In a recent interview, FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed that he is open to the idea of Canadian rapper Drake performing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The suggestion was made by host Rosanna Scotto, who referenced Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar, who performed at the Super Bowl LIX.

Infantino seemed intrigued by the idea, asking, “So we can create a bit of a rivalry?” Scotto enthusiastically agreed, responding with a simple “Yes.” Infantino then said, “That’s a good idea.” He even mentioned that Drake was present when the host cities were announced, joking that he should have Drake’s number saved somewhere.

This potential performance would be part of the World Cup’s first-ever halftime show, scheduled to take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey are helping create the event.

“I can confirm the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen,” Infantino said during a press conference in Dallas. “This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.”
