Gov. Soludo Boasts: “I Defeated Peter Obi in His Own Constituency”
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has declared that the Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) hold little to no political weight in Anambra, while boasting that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured victory even in Peter Obi’s stronghold.
Speaking at a victory rally in Nanka to celebrate APGA’s landslide win, Soludo argued that the election was hyped by opposition figures—including former Anambra governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi—as a test of political strength. However, according to him, the outcome proved otherwise.
“Even in Onitsha North, Peter Obi’s own constituency, APGA won convincingly,” Soludo said, taking a swipe at Obi, who had openly supported ADC candidates during the polls.

The governor further emphasized that despite the coalition of opposition leaders—including senators and House of Representatives members—the people of Anambra still chose APGA, which reportedly secured about 77% of the total votes.
He described the election as an attempted “trial run” for ADC in the state but maintained that APGA’s sweeping victory was proof of the opposition’s weakness and his party’s dominance.
