“Men Don’t Want to Marry Me Because I’m a Single Mother of Two” – Kaffy Opens Up
Renowned Nigerian dancer and choreographer, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, has opened up about the struggles she faces in her personal life following her divorce.
Speaking during a candid conversation, the 45-year-old entertainer revealed that many men shy away from marrying her simply because she is a single mother of two.
“I’ve had somebody tell me that because I’m a single mother, they can’t even consider dating me since I already have two children,” she said.
The Stigma Around Divorced Women
Kaffy criticized the societal stigma that surrounds divorced women, questioning why society often considers them “less desirable.” She argued that divorced individuals who have healed and worked on themselves may even be better partners than those who have never been married.

“What makes you think a woman that has been divorced is not a better candidate if she has worked on herself? Many of the people criticizing me about my marriage are either no longer married today or have left theirs,” she stated.
“Real Love Brings Peace, Not Anxiety”
Reflecting on her past, the award-winning dancer emphasized that real love should bring peace, not constant anxiety.
“A lot of those butterflies in the stomach are actually trauma responses. Real love is supposed to bring calmness and security, not worry,” she explained.
Kaffy also pointed out that over 70% of marriages end in separation, stressing that no one enters marriage with a “guarantee” of forever.
Despite the challenges, Kaffy made it clear that she is proud of the woman she has become.
“I know how responsible I am. I don’t sleep around, I don’t do casual things. People even say I only used my ex for children, but I know my truth. I’ve spent the last 10 years of my adult life trying to fix things, and now I’m focused on healing and raising my kids,” she added.
