The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied any knowledge of an investigation into the alleged theft of N180 million from the NGO account of popular social media commentator, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

According to reports, hackers infiltrated VeryDarkMan’s account and stole the staggering amount. Otse took to Instagram to reveal the breach, confirming that a suspect had been apprehended in connection with the crime.

He also stated that the hacked account had been placed on Payment Network Disconnection (PND), with N160 million diverted to an undisclosed account and N20 million remaining in the compromised account.

The theft occurred shortly after Otse launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative in October, which raised over N35 million in donations within hours.

He also received a generous N100 million contribution from renowned music producer Don Jazzy.

Despite Otse’s claims of working with the police to track down the suspect, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, clarified that the command was not involved in the matter. “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it,” she stated.
