The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a constable serving under the Taraba State Command after he was found guilty of stealing a goat.
The officer, identified as PC Usman Mohammed and attached to the Mutum Biyu Division, was sacked following an official directive from the Commissioner of Police, DFA Jalingo, to the Divisional Police Officer in Mutum Biyu.
According to the statement, Mohammed’s dismissal followed due disciplinary procedures and was carried out in line with the Police Act and Regulation 370, Cap 389 of the 2010 Laws of the Federation (as amended).
The offence falls under paragraph ‘E’ of the First Schedule of the Police Act, which covers acts of gross misconduct warranting immediate termination.
Police authorities have also ordered the retrieval of all official items in the dismissed officer’s possession, including his police ID card, and have stopped his salary. His service records will be updated to reflect the termination.
