A recent audit report has uncovered a shocking discrepancy in Ondo State’s financial records.

Despite paying N281 million for various project items, the audit team found no physical evidence of the purchases.

This raises serious concerns about corruption and mismanagement of public funds.

The audit report revealed several instances of unaccounted expenses and missing items. These include:

N27.5 million worth of items : for the completion of the Accountant General’s office headquarters complex, including a project vehicle, laptops, tablets, printers, and cameras.

N72.2 million worth of items for the construction of a hospital facility, including two Hilux vehicles, drivers’ wages, and laptop computers.

N70.7 million worth of items for the construction of the governor’s lodge, including two Hilux vehicles, maintenance costs, and refurbishment of vehicles.

N106.6 million worth of items for the construction of the Ondo State innovation Centre, including laptop computers and printers.

The audit report’s findings suggest a lack of transparency and accountability in Ondo State’s financial management. The government’s failure to provide physical evidence of the purchases raises questions about the use of public funds.
