Israel has reportedly launched a second wave of strikes on Iran, targeting military and nuclear sites, thenewsnaija gathered.
The attacks come after a major escalation of tensions between the two countries, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating that the campaign aims to defeat an existential threat from Iran.
The strikes hit locations in Tehran, including the northern and southern outskirts of the city, as well as Fordow, near the holy city of Qom, a major nuclear site spared in the first wave of attacks. The Israeli military said it was striking Iranian missile and drone launching sites, with over 200 fighter jets participating in the operation.

Iran’s air defenses were activated, and explosions could be heard in Isfahan. The Iranian government has vowed a firm response, citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, which reserves the right to self-defense.
General Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, and Iran’s former national security chief, Ali Shamkhani, were among those killed in the attacks.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported casualties, including innocent civilians, and accused Israel of violating Iran’s territorial integrity and launching attacks on residential areas. The ministry called on the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to address the threat to international peace and urged member states to condemn the attack and act collectively.
The situation remains volatile, with both sides dug in and ready for further conflict.
