Brentford Block Mbeumo Exit Again Despite £62.5m United Offer
Manchester United have seen a second bid for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo turned down, as the Red Devils push to secure one of their top attacking targets this summer.
After having an initial £55 million offer rejected, United returned with an improved bid of £62.5 million—matching the fee they recently paid for Wolves’ Matheus Cunha. However, Brentford remain firm on their valuation of the 25-year-old forward.
Despite the latest setback, negotiations are ongoing. Sources close to the player suggest Mbeumo is keen on a move to Old Trafford, where he is seen as an ideal fit for new manager Ruben Amorim’s system.
Tottenham Hotspur are also in the picture, having held early talks with Brentford. Mbeumo is believed to be intrigued by a potential reunion with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who has just taken charge at Spurs. Still, the Cameroonian international is said to be leaning towards United.
Why United Want Mbeumo
Mbeumo is coming off a sensational Premier League season. He scored 20 goals—behind only three players in the league—and provided 7 assists. According to Sky Sports data, he led the league in expected assists (9.26) and total crosses (202), underlining his creative output.
His work rate is just as impressive. Only two players covered more distance or made more sprints last season, and he clocked the fourth-fastest top speed in the league at 36.63 km/h.
Perhaps most notably, Mbeumo’s 27 goal contributions earned Brentford 22 points—40% of their total tally—making him one of the most influential players in the division.
