Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz made light work of Britain’s Cameron Norrie in their Wimbledon 2025 quarter-final clash, cruising to a straight-sets win and extending his unbeaten streak to 22 matches.

In just one hour and 39 minutes, the No. 2 seed dismissed Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 on Centre Court, ending British hopes in this year’s singles competition. The 21-year-old Spaniard now moves on to face American fifth seed Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals.

Norrie, Britain’s No. 3 and a former semi-finalist in 2022, came into the quarter-final with a confidence boost after a strong run, including a notable win over 12th seed Frances Tiafoe. Despite a rocky year that saw him drop close to the top 100, this Wimbledon performance has likely earned him a spot just outside the top 40 in the rankings.

He started well, earning three break points in Alcaraz’s opening service game, but the Spaniard saved them all — and never looked back. A double fault from Norrie handed Alcaraz the break at 2-1 in the first set, which he quickly turned into a 6-2 opener.

Alcaraz: In Command and In Form

  • Alcaraz looked every bit the two-time defending champion, dictating play with power and precision. Even as the Centre Court crowd rallied behind their home player, the momentum remained firmly with the world No. 2.
  • Norrie put up a fight, saving a match point late in the third set, but the outcome felt inevitable.
  • Carlos broke early in each set and never let Norrie back into the match.

Speaking after the match, Alcaraz said:

“Really happy with the way I played against Cam. No one works harder than him. It’s always special to play a semi-final here.”

Looking ahead to his next opponent, Alcaraz added:

“[Taylor] Fritz is playing great, the grass season for him has been really successful. I’m just trying to enjoy andlive in this moment.”
