Dr Congo team is Accused by the Super Eagles Coach Chelle of Using Voodoo During a Peanalty Shootout.(Video)
After a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Nigeria’s campaign ended in a 4-3 loss in penalties.
A DR Congo employee allegedly did “voodoo” during the penalty shootout in Sunday’s World Cup playoff final in Rabat, Morocco, which resulted in the Super Eagles’ elimination from the 2026 tournament race, according to Eric Chelle, head coach of the Nigerian national football team.

The Super Eagles will miss the World Cup for the second year in a row as a result of the defeat.
Chelle vented his annoyance at several DR Congo employees during the penalty shootout in an interview with reporters following the game.
Chelle claimed in a video that ESPN Africa shared on X on Monday, November 17, that he became irate after seeing a member of DR Congo’s technical area make repeated gestures during the video assistant referee review for a penalty incident.
He stated ;
“During all the penalty decision, a guy of Congo did some voodoo… Every time, every time, every time. So this is why I was a little nervous after him,”
When asked to explain what he saw, Chelle added while gesturing: “Something like that. I don’t know if it’s water or something like that [he was spraying it up].”
