After an “injured” player runs away with eight phones, Okey Bakassi offers a ₦5 million bounty, saying, “I will find you.”
Okey Bakassi, a well-known comedian, has declared war on a man who allegedly stole eight expensive iPhones on Wednesday night at a weekly football game in Ikoyi, Lagos.
A N5 million reward has been given by Nigerian comedian Okechukwu Anthony, best known by his stage name Okey Bakassi, for information leading to the recovery of eight phones that were allegedly snatched during a football game in Ikoyi, Lagos.
In a video that was posted on his social media page on Thursday, Bakassi disclosed that the incident took place on Wednesday night at a football field where he and his friends get together once a week.
He says a young man came up to them and was allowed to join their game. He continued by saying that the man later pretended to be injured and left the field, allegedly taking the cell phones of eight players with him.
In his words:
“We play football every Wednesday night in Ikoyi, and this evening, April 15, 2026, a young man came to play with us. Out of our own kindness, we allowed him to join us.”
“He played for a little bit and feigned injury, then went to the stands to sit. While we were carried away playing football, this criminal carted away people’s phones. Took about eight handsets and disappeared.”
The comedian issued a severe warning and gave the accused thief a 24-hour deadline to return the phones. He then offered a N5 million prize for helpful information or intelligence and urged those with experience tracking phones to help recover the gadgets.
He continued by saying…
“If you’re the one who came out this evening to play with us and you feel that the way to pay us back is to cart away phones and vanish, we will find you. It will only take time. In your best interest, you have the next 24 hours to return those phones to the security post where you took them from.”
“If you know how to track phones, please DM me.” The person who can locate any one of those phones would receive five million naira.
He further advised that any buyer of a used phone should always check well for the legitimate identity of the phone.
