Arsenal are willing to break the bank for Osimhen, who is valued at €100 million
The previous record transfer fee paid by Arsenal was £72 million to Lille in 2019 for Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal are interested in signing the 23-year-old Nigeria international as a replacement for former captain Alexandre Lacazette, who rejoined Lyon on a free transfer this summer, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Arsenal are gearing up to enter talks with Napoli for Osimhen and are keen to sign the €100m valued striker. Manchester United are also keen on a move but the Gunners hold the edge for the time being,” the report said.
“The deal could be concluded later this month, allowing Napoli to immediately reinvest the funds and carry out a decent transfer window.”
Other big European clubs are interested in signing the striker, who scored 18 goals and added six assists in 32 appearances last season.

On Monday, Osimhen stole the show while on international duty with Nigeria, scoring four goals in a 10-0 thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, bringing his international tally to 15 goals in 22 games.
He also scored for the Eagles on matchday one, when they overcame Sierra Leone 2-1 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja after coming back from a goal down.
Meanwhile, a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli has identified Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca as a possible target if the Nigerian leaves the Partenopei this summer.
