Former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s cousin, Don Pedro Obaseki, has described an alleged ordeal in which he was kidnapped, beaten, and stripped by suspected attackers in Benin City, Edo State.
He claims that the incident happened on Sunday at around 11:30 a.m. as he was playing football at Uwa Primary School in Benin with members of the Uwa All Stars.
After PUNCH Online revealed that alleged attackers had stripped Obaseki and transported him to the Oba of Benin’s Palace, Obaseki responded in a video released by Africa Independent Television on Sunday.

He claimed that armed men rushed the field, kidnapped him, and dragged him through various city streets while claiming that the Oba of Benin’s Palace had given them the order.
In his word
“I begged them to show me some form of ID, of course not, I was dragged, beaten severely, manhandled and dragged through Igbisawan Street up to Akpapava, which is the main thoroughfare in Benin and up to Ring Road, where I was stripped n@ked and taken into the palace of the Oba of Benin and where I was meant to kneel publicly.
