G7 Leaders Unite in Support of Israel, Call for Ceasefire with Iran
The Group of Seven (G7) nations has issued a joint statement in support of Israel’s security amid escalating tensions with Iran.
The leaders affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself and urged a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.
According to the statement, “We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel.” The G7 leaders also emphasized the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, labeling it “the principal source of regional instability and terror”.

The statement comes as Israel and Iran exchanged deadly strikes for a fifth day, with Tehran demanding Washington “muzzle” Netanyahu and Europe scrambling to revive stalled nuclear talks. US President Donald Trump, who was attending the G7 summit in Canada, planned to leave the event early to return to Washington due to the Middle East situation.
Trump warned Iran to negotiate, stating, “Iran is not winning this war, and they should talk… before it’s too late.” He also emphasized that Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, saying, “IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”
The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with over 220 deaths reported in Iran, mostly civilians, and 24 civilians killed in Israel. The G7 nations have expressed readiness to coordinate on safeguarding stability in energy markets.
