Herbert Wigwe’s Family Embroiled in Nasty Court Battle: Grandfather Takes Granddaughter to Court Over Estate
A dramatic and intense family dispute has erupted over the estate of late Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe.
His 90-year-old father, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, has taken his 26-year-old granddaughter, Otutochi Wigwe, to court in a bitter battle over property and guardianship.
At the heart of the dispute is Pastor Wigwe’s application to appoint interim administrators and guardians for his late son’s estate. However, Justice A.O. Adeyemi of the Lagos State High Court dismissed this application on February 6, 2025, ruling that Pastor Wigwe was not entitled to the reliefs sought.
The court also found that Pastor Wigwe’s claims were essentially the same as those raised in a substantive suit, and referenced an existing judgment that had already appointed Otutochi Wigwe as the legal guardian of Herbert Wigwe’s minor children.
Undeterred, Pastor Wigwe and his co-appellants have filed a notice of appeal, arguing that the court failed to distinguish between interim reliefs and final reliefs.
They cite Section 24 of the Administration of Estate Law of Lagos State, 2015, which empowers courts to appoint interim administrators where necessary.
