Kwam 1, a well-known Fuji icon, receives a high honor in Nigeria

This information was made public in a letter from the Office of the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, where President Muhammadu Buhari announced on Tuesday that the Fuji icon had been awarded the title of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).

Among 437 other people from various walks of life, including politics, public office, security, business, monarchs, and religious leaders, Kwam 1, as he is affectionately known by his fans, was chosen.

This comes after other accomplishments in the past few months, including the recent celebration of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal’s 50 years on stage.

“I have the honour to formally inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has approved the conferment of the National Honours on you, in the rank of MON (Member of the Order of the Niger).”
