Drama as EFCC raids Akwa-Ibom University and detains 19 students, Due to Internet Scam (Yahoo-Yahoo)

Agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, have detained 19 students at the Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, in Akwa Ibom State. They were detained on suspicion of online crime.

The suspects were detained on Friday,

At Obong Abasi Lodge and Mfon Obong Lodge, two private hostels in Ikot Akpadem, Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

Some of the suspects are suspected of participating in impersonation, fraudulent cryptocurrency transactions, and romance scams.

Several laptops and cell phones were retrieved from them.

The Commission also said that as soon as its inquiries were over, it will take the student to court.
