Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to 2.06 Million Barrels Per Day Oil Production Target
Nigeria has reiterated its dedication to meeting the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) standards for crude oil production.
At the 38th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC) of OPEC, the Nigerian government reaffirmed its commitment to achieving its 2025 production target of 2.06 million barrels per day.
The meeting, which brought together ministers and heads of delegations, aimed to discuss critical strategies for ensuring sustained stability in the global oil market.

The Nigerian delegation, led by Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, emphasized the importance of full conformity with production levels and the implementation of a robust compensation mechanism to enhance transparency and preserve market equilibrium.
Nigeria’s commitment to meeting its oil production target is crucial, given the country’s reliance on oil exports.
As a member of OPEC, Nigeria has a significant role to play in maintaining stability in the global oil market.
The country’s oil production has been steadily increasing, with an average production of 1.882 million barrels per day between 1973 and 2018.
