NNPCL’s Price Reduction: Filling Stations in South-East, North Defy Directive, Sell Fuel Above N1000
Despite the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited’s recent announcement reducing the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N1020 to N899 per litre, filling stations in the South-East and Northern regions of Nigeria continue to sell fuel above N1000 per litre.
A survey conducted by SaharaReporters on Monday revealed that many filling stations in the affected regions have refused to comply with the new price regime. In some areas, fuel is being sold for as high as N1060 per litre.
Here’s a breakdown of the prices observed in different regions:
- Kwara: N1020 to N1060 per litre
- Minna, Niger State: N1000 (NNPC), N1050 to N1100 (other stations)
- Kano State: N990 (NNPC), N1030 to N1080 (other stations)
- Abuja: N965 (NNPC), N1050 (other stations)
- Abakaliki, Ebonyi State: Above N1000 per litre
- Anambra: N1020 per litre
The NNPC spokesperson, Femi Shoneye, declined to comment on the findings when contacted newsmen.
