Obidient Movement Demands JAMB Registrar’s Resignation Over UTME Controversies

The Obidient Movement, a group of supporters of Labour Party’s former presidential candidate Peter Obi, has called for the immediate resignation of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

The demand follows controversies surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

According to the movement, Oloyede’s “gross incompetence” and mishandling of the examination process have affected at least 379,997 candidates, predominantly from the South-East region and Lagos State. The group described the situation as a “systemic failure” and criticized JAMB’s response as “sluggish and unimpressive.”

The Obidient Movement also questioned the necessity and fairness of requiring affected candidates to retake the examination, given that the issues were attributed to human error rather than technical failure.

Furthermore, the group raised concerns about JAMB’s plan to notify candidates via bulk SMS, citing the method’s low delivery success rate.

The movement’s statement, signed by Nana Kazaure, Director of Strategic Communications and Media, concluded with a firm demand for Oloyede’s resignation, citing his “demonstrable lack of capacity” to manage JAMB’s affairs.
