Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), arrived at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, January 27, 2025, to honor a police invitation.

Omoyele, accompanied by his lawyer and supporters, arrived around 9:45 am.

The police invitation stems from a viral video showing Sowore confronting police officers accused of extorting motorists on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road in Lagos.

The video sparked public outrage, prompting the police to launch an investigation into Sowore’s alleged obstruction of the officers.

The police invitation, dated January 23, 2025, directed Sowore to report to Room 212 of the FID Complex, opposite Force Headquarters in Abuja, at 10 am.

Omoyele was informed of his right to bring legal representation, emphasizing that the invitation was within the police’s constitutional investigative powers.

Sowore’s confrontation with the police officers was captured in a video shared on social media, where he accused the officers of causing traffic and extorting motorists. Despite the officers’ initial refusal to allow him to pass, Sowore eventually drove off after a brief standoff

This comes amid another legal battle for Sowore, who is scheduled to appear in court on February 4, 2025, in a cybercrime case initiated by Senator Ned Nwoko.
