Former Kaduna State governor and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed concerns over the party’s leadership and its ability to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking at a conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, held in Abuja on Monday, El-Rufai criticized the party’s leadership, saying it had deviated from its founding ideals.
“I no longer recognize APC, It’s a Zero-man Show,” El-Rufai said. “No party organ of the APC has met for the past two years. No caucus, no NEC (National Executive Council), nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show; it is a zero-man show.”
El-Rufai also accused the APC-led administration of targeting opposition parties for destruction, describing the situation as a national emergency.
He warned that the actions of the administration could threaten Nigeria’s democracy, citing a recent poll that showed 75% of registered voters do not plan to participate in the 2027 elections.
