CARTEL LEADER CAPTURED AFTER WIFE POSTS PHOTOS ON INSTAGRAM REAVE
A notorious cartel leader, Luis Manuel Picado Grijalba, has been captured by authorities after his wife unwittingly revealed his location through Instagram posts.
Grijalba, 43, also known as “Shock,” was arrested at a London airport in December after being accused of shipping cocaine from Limón, Costa Rica to the US.
The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had been tracking Grijalba for several months, and his wife’s Instagram posts provided the crucial lead that led to his capture.
According to reports, Grijalba’s wife, Estefania McDonald Rodriguez, frequently posted updates about their luxury vacations on social media. Her posts showed the couple posing underneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris, as well as her solo travels to sunny beaches and Rome’s Trevi Fountain.
The DEA agents used the post of the couple in Paris to pinpoint Grijalba’s location. The arrest was approved after the DEA obtained an international warrant. Notably, the DEA wanted to capture Grijalba in Europe instead of Costa Rica, as the Central American nation prohibits the extradition of its citizens.
The Cartel Leaders is currently fighting extradition to the US, where he faces a lengthy jail sentence.
