Barcelona have completed the signing of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

The England international, 27, was unveiled at Camp Nou on Thursday after finalising the deal, which includes a purchase clause valued at approximately £26 million (€30m). Rashford will wear the No. 14 shirt, a number historically worn by club legends including Thierry Henry and Johan Cruyff.

“It’s a club where dreams come true,” Rashford said during his introductory press conference. “It feels like home already. I’m excited to help the team win and to enjoy playing football again.”

The deal was confirmed by both clubs on Thursday afternoon, with Rashford signing his contract in the presence of Barcelona president Joan Laporta and club executives.

Despite securing the agreement, Rashford is not yet registered to play due to ongoing financial constraints at the club.

LaLiga regulations require Barcelona to reduce spending or generate new income before registering new players. The club has until August 31 to comply.

From Old Trafford to Camp Nou

Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been uncertain since a public falling out with manager Ruben Amorim last winter. Amorim previously stated he would prefer to field a 63-year-old coach over Rashford, citing lack of effort.

Although linked with a move in January — and briefly loaned to Aston Villa — Rashford maintained a long-standing interest in joining Barcelona. The move was reportedly approved after conversations with head coach Hansi Flick.

“Hansi Flick was a big part of my decision,” Rashford said. “He has done amazing work with a young team and wants to go even further this season.”

Barcelona consider Rashford a key attacking reinforcement after missing out on Liverpool’s Luis Díaz earlier in the window. While financial hurdles remain, the club is confident of registering the forward before the season begins.

Rashford becomes the first English player to represent Barcelona since Gary Lineker, and hopes to revive his career at a club that secured a domestic double last season.

“This is my next chapter,” Rashford said. “I want to improve, enjoy my football, and win trophies with this team.”
