As Chelsea prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup final, captain Reece James and defender Levi Colwill are oozing confidence—and they’re not buying into the PSG hype.

James: “I Don’t Care” About PSG’s Reputation

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, James made his stance crystal clear: Chelsea aren’t intimidated by PSG’s form or reputation.

“To be honest, I don’t care that everyone is bigging up our opposition. We’re preparing right and we’re going there to win,” said the right-back, who recently returned to full fitness.

James acknowledged PSG’s quality but emphasized that the Blues have the tools to surprise everyone:

“PSG are amazing and we’re expecting a tough game, but we also have an amazing team. We’re going to surprise a lot of people.”

He also hinted at a tactical plan to exploit any weaknesses:

“I’m sure our analysts are studying where PSG have struggled. We’ll adapt.”

Colwill: “We’re Not Real Madrid”

Centre-back Levi Colwill took an even more fiery tone, referencing PSG’s crushing 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semi-finals. But according to Colwill, Chelsea is a different beast.

“They’re a great side, but we’re not Inter or Real Madrid. They don’t press like us. They don’t play like us. We’re going to bring something different.”

Colwill also dismissed the notion of PSG being the outright favourite:

“Most people around the world expect PSG to win. But not in our camp. We’re confident. We’ve shown we belong here, and we’re going to prove it.”

PSG manager Luis Enrique acknowledged Chelsea’s strength, calling them “physically strong” and “similar to us,” hinting at a potentially tight showdown at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

PSG have been on a tear this season, sweeping through competitions and defeating European giants with ease. But Chelsea, already winners of the Europa Conference League, are hunting their second trophy of the season—and their second Club World Cup title in history.

Can Chelsea Pull Off the Upset?

With belief running high in the Chelsea camp and both teams stacked with talent, Sunday’s final promises to be a thrilling battle between two footballing heavyweights. One thing is certain—Reece James and Levi Colwill aren’t showing an ounce of fear.
