Victor Osimhen Reveals Why He Wears a Mask
Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen has opened up about the reason behind wearing a mask, sharing a harrowing experience that led to a life-changing surgery.
In a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Osimhen revealed that he wears a mask due to an iron plate inserted in his face after a horrific incident on the field.
The injury occurred during a clash with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in a Serie A match in November 2021, resulting in multiple facial fractures. Osimhen underwent emergency jaw surgery, where a fragment of his facial structure was removed and replaced with iron plates.

Victor Osimhen shared that the doctor prioritized swift action, saying, “The doctor came and said we have to do surgery, and I have to do it as quickly as possible. I have iron in my face.”
Despite initial reluctance, Osimhen ultimately acquiesced to the procedure, which involved inserting six plates and 18 screws into his face.
Since the surgery, Osimhen has worn a mask to protect his face from further injury.
He emphasized the importance of wearing the mask, stating that it’s “really dangerous” for him to play without it. In fact, during a match against Cagliari, he had blood on his face even with the mask on, highlighting the risks of playing without protection
