25-Year-Old Kidnapper Confesses to Plotting Escape Abroad with N20m Ransom
A 25-year-old suspected kidnapper, Musa Shaibu, has confessed to planning to flee abroad with his share of a N20 million ransom after abducting a 14-year-old boy in Lagos State.
Shaibu, a member of a five-man kidnapping gang, was arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command in the Ajegunle area.
The gang allegedly abducted the teenage son of a Bureau De Change operator, identified as Hassan, from their residence in Olodi-Apapa. They demanded N20 million for the boy’s release. Shaibu told investigators that their intention was not to harm the boy but to collect the ransom from his “rich father.”
The police arrested Shaibu at a filling station near Wema Bridge in Apapa, where he had gone to collect the ransom. Shaibu confessed that he planned to use his share of the money to travel overseas. Further investigations led the police to a hotel in Ajegunle, where the victim was rescued unhurt.
The victim has been reunited with his family, while the police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the remaining gang members. The hotel manager was also arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
