Dalung: “Even If Tinubu Appoints His Son as INEC Chair and Wife as CJN, APC Will Still Lose in 2027”

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has delivered a bold political forecast ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

In a recent interview, Dalung declared that not even the most strategic — or controversial — appointments by President Bola Tinubu can save the All Progressives Congress (APC) from electoral defeat.

“Even if Tinubu appoints his son as INEC Chairman and his wife as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), APC will still be defeated in 2027,” Dalung asserted.

Speaking from Jos, Plateau State in an interview with News Central, Dalung cited the worsening socio-economic conditions, rising poverty, and alleged abuse of power as reasons Nigerians will reject the ruling party at the polls.

“This government has declared war against the people. They have weaponised poverty, hunger, and hardship. They’ve made injustice and impunity the norm,” he stated.

Dalung urged citizens to unite under a growing political coalition poised to challenge APC dominance in 2027. He emphasized that change can only come through collective action and political realignment.

Once a prominent APC figure, Dalung has become one of the party’s fiercest critics. He recently defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after a disappointing meeting with President Tinubu — one he claims left him feeling unheard and disillusioned.

“What we have now is not a democracy, but a kakistocracy — a government by the worst people. The APC has become a conclave of sinners, attracting those fleeing accountability,” he said.

Dalung also warned that mass defections into the APC by opportunistic politicians will ultimately destabilize the party due to a lack of shared ideology and principles.

“The battle line is drawn. The people must rise. We must reposition ourselves and confront this government in 2027.”
