Police Arrest Three After a Teacher is Beaten to Death for Punishing a Student.
In relation to the alleged murder of a staff member at Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School, Ugbamaka, in the Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, three suspects have been taken into custody.
According to reports, a normal disciplinary process at a primary school turned into a startling string of attacks that ultimately claimed the life of a female staff member.
According to the state police command, the arrests came after investigations into Mariam Usman’s death, which was allegedly caused by injuries she received during assaults.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, stated in a statement that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lokoja’s Homicide Section started a thorough investigation after the matter was reported on June 25, 2026.
After receiving initial care at Grace Clinic in Ugbamaka, the victim was reportedly referred to Eleojo Clinic in Okpo for additional medical care. However, on June 25, the victim passed away due to alleged injuries incurred during the assault.
Police said investigations revealed a prima facie case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide against the three defendants Ojonojima Mary, Ramatu Isiaka Eleojo and Abdullahi Isiaka
According to the command, the investigation has been completed, and the accused will be charged in court.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, assured the locals that the command is still dedicated to upholding justice and combating violent crimes throughout the state while praising the detectives for their professionalism and effort in handling the case.
He urged people to constantly look for legal ways to settle conflicts and to abstain from enforcing the law on their own.
