Nigerian woman sets a Guinness Record by finishing a 144-hour Bible reading marathon.
In an effort to break the Guinness World Record, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, a Nigerian woman, finished a 144-hour marathon reading of the Bible.
Habibat finished the six-day challenge on Monday after reading nonstop in accordance with Guinness World Records regulations, which only allow contestants to take brief breaks for necessities.
The feat, tagged “144 Hours in the Word,” was conceived as a faith-based initiative to promote deeper engagement with the Scriptures and encourage Christians to cultivate a stronger commitment to Bible study.
According to supporters who shared videos of the event on social media, the record attempt began on June 22 at the Novotel in Port Harcourt and ended on June 29 after 144 hours of continuous reading.

Habibat, a member of Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, reportedly started the challenge after years of preparation that started in June 2022 and were characterized by perseverance, discipline, and spiritual commitment.
Family, friends, churchgoers, and other well-wishers gathered at the location to support her during the exercise, and many others followed her progress online while digital timers kept track of the countdown.
The Guinness World Records rules, which mandate that participants read aloud continuously with only short breaks for basic human requirements, were followed during the marathon reading.
Before any record is properly confirmed, Habibat’s most recent accomplishment will now go through the formal verification process by Guinness World Records.
