Governor Hyacinth Alia of benue State has submitted the first batch of eight commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, following his recent dissolution of the State Executive Council.
On July 30, Governor Alia sacked all commissioners and dissolved the entire cabinet at the end of the 12th Executive Council meeting.
He subsequently appointed former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher, as the new Chief of Staff.
In a statement released Friday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, confirmed that the list of nominees has been sent to the House of Assembly.
He described the move as a key step in restructuring the state government for more effective service delivery.
The nominees are:
- Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
- Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
- Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
- Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
- Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
- Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
- Hon. James Dwem
- Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
Kula also stated that a second batch of nominees will be forwarded to the Assembly in the coming days.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, competence, and inclusivity in the selection of new cabinet members.
