At the Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos, Nigeria, where three women are claiming to be the legal wives of a deceased Nigerian, Monday Akpoviroroh Ovuede. The women are battling to inherit Ovuede’s estate.

 

At the center of the controversy is a marriage certificate issued by the Ikoyi Marriage Registry, which has been alleged to be a forgery.

Mrs. Henrietta Ekene presented a certified true copy (CTC) of the marriage certificate, dated October 7, 2006, in support of her claim.

However, an investigation revealed that the certificate lacks essential features required for a valid marriage certificate, including signatures of the parties to the marriage and witnesses.

 

The scandal has raised concerns about the authenticity of marriage certificates issued by the Ikoyi Marriage Registry.

According to Reports,  the racket enables individuals to procure counterfeit marriage certificates for monetary gain, with severe implications for inheritance disputes.

 

The Ikoyi Marriage Registry has been accused of corruption and forgery, with officials allegedly involved in the racket.
