Israeli airstrikes on Tehran have killed several top military officials and nuclear scientists. The Israeli military confirmed that its Air Force conducted dozens of strikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets, including the enrichment facility in Natanz.

Key Victims of the Israeli Strikes:

  • Major General Hossein Salami: Commander of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
  • General Gholam Ali Rashid: Deputy Chief of Army Staff and commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters
  • Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi: Nuclear scientist
  • Fereydoon Abbasi: Former head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran and nuclear scientist
  • General Mohammad Bagheri: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has vowed retaliation for the Israeli strikes, warning that Israel “should expect severe punishment”. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces described the attack as “blatant aggression” and promised a “crushing” response.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation was intended to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Israel’s military strikes aimed to deal a significant blow to Iran’s military capabilities and nuclear program.

The attack comes ahead of nuclear talks between the US and Iran, scheduled for Sunday in Oman. US President Donald Trump recently accused Tehran of “slow-walking” the negotiations, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that Washington was not involved in the Israeli strikes.
