Man Arrested with Gun During Church Service in Plateau
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State have arrested a man allegedly found with a firearm within the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives around the church compound.
According to security expert and counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect “was found in possession of a gun and could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for it.” Makama commended the swift response of the security operatives, who acted on credible intelligence.
“The swift action of our operatives helped prevent what could have escalated into a serious security breach,” Makama stated. The timely intervention of the NSCDC was crucial in maintaining peace in an area already considered vulnerable to security threats.
Authorities have not released further details about the suspect, citing the need to conclude preliminary investigations before disclosing his identity or possible motives. Bokkos, located in the central zone of Plateau State, has witnessed sporadic incidents of violence and unrest in recent years.
The NSCDC’s swift action has prevented a potential security breach, and the investigation is ongoing.
