Apostle Festus Alilu, senior pastor of Word of Power Gospel Church International in Ughelli, Delta State, was arrested by the police on Thursday for publicly criticizing Pastor Korede Komaiya’s prosperity teachings.

Komaiya, a well-known prosperity preacher and senior pastor of The Master’s Place International Church, has been accused of misleading church members with fabricated teachings designed to exploit their faith.

Apostle Alilu posted a video on his official Facebook page, accusing Pastor Komaiya of promoting a prosperity gospel that emphasizes financial breakthroughs and success through offerings and tithes.

Alilu warned that such teachings could deepen the divide and confusion within the Christian community.

Some have supported Alilu’s bold stance, while others have criticized him for publicly challenging a fellow pastor.

Pastor Komaiya is a charismatic preacher who has built a reputation on the promise of divine prosperity. His teachings reflect the broader prosperity gospel movement, which has gained significant influence in Nigeria and Africa. Despite ongoing criticism, Komaiya’s church has continued to grow, with a large following in Nigeria.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has been outspoken about corruption and manipulation within Nigerian churches, often targeting prosperity preachers for exploiting vulnerable worshippers.

As of the time of reporting, neither Pastor Komaiya nor The Master’s Place International Church has issued an official response to the accusations or the arrest of Apostle Alilu.
