Nigerian police spokesperson responds to a widely shared video of an officer at a checkpoint requesting money from a white man traveling.
Clement demonstrated on camera how many of the policemen he encountered gave him cordial greetings and asked him to carry on with his journey.
ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, has responded to a widely shared video that purports to show a police officer requesting money from a German visitor named Clement while he was in transit.
Clement went through a few checkpoints in Nigeria on his way to South Africa.
Clement demonstrated on camera how many of the policemen he encountered gave him cordial greetings and asked him to carry on with his journey.
When they encountered him, some even offered him prayers. But when he begged Clement for money at one of the checkpoints, one of the officers he met ruined the trail.
The other Officer stated that he should ;
‘’Give me dollars. We want to buy fuel’. You are to give us money. We are providing service, safety on the road.’
Meanwhile, Hundeyin responded to the viral video by praising the other cops for their professionalism and for not requesting money. He also made the point that there will always be one Judas person who would misrepresent a group.
