Ousted Lagos Speaker Obasa Defies Impeachment Claims Hes Still in Charge
Mudashiru Obasa, the recently impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has declared that he remains the rightful speaker, citing constitutional provisions.
Obasa’s impeachment was a result of allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Despite his deputy, Mojisola Meranda, being sworn in as his successor, Obasa insists that his removal was unlawful and null and void. He argues that the impeachment process did not adhere to constitutional procedures.
The former speaker has been accused of misappropriating state funds and abuse of office.
However, the Lagos State House of Assembly has yet to respond to Obasa’s claims.
