Following controversial comments he made regarding handling arrested militants, well-known Nigerian content creator English Alhaji has expressed outrage over purported death threats from suspected bandits.
English Alhaji, a well-known Nigerian content creator, has raised the alarm after gunmen threatened to kill him.
A video posted on his social media feed served as the warning. According to reports, a week prior, English Alhaji had commended the young people of Nasarawa State’s Achepe community for successfully fending off a bandit raid.
He had, however, also lambasted them for turning over caught bandits to the military instead of taking severe action against them, claiming that security forces shouldn’t receive captive bandits and that reintegration programs have failed.
English Alhaji revealed in a now-viral video that after his earlier remarks urging Nigerians to kill rather than turn over captured terrorists, bandits contacted him over a WhatsApp video call and threatened him.
He called the incident extremely uncomfortable, pointing out that the callers did not try to hide their names and even directed their cameras at ammo to show how dangerous they were.
He claimed that the bandits threatened to exact the same punishment on him as he had counselled others to inflict on captured militants if they ever managed to capture him.
