Lagos And Ogun to Experience 25-Day Power Outage
Residents and businesses in Lagos and Ogun states will experience a daily power outage for 25 days, beginning Monday, July 28, and ending Wednesday, August 21, 2025.
According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the outage will occur daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part of scheduled maintenance work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
The maintenance is aimed at installing an Optical Ground Wire (OGW) fibre cable, which is critical for the full activation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

The SCADA system is designed to enhance real-time monitoring and management of the national grid.
The planned outage is expected to affect economic activities across both states. Analysts have warned of potential losses running into hundreds of billions of naira, particularly for businesses, banks, and manufacturers dependent on a stable power supply.
TCN has urged the public to bear with the inconvenience, assuring that the upgrade is necessary for long-term improvements in grid efficiency and reliability.
