Man Arrested at his Child Naming Ceremony For Stealing Three Goats in Ogun Church
Emmanuel Awahnse, the culprit, was captured at a church during his child’s naming ceremony.
A 27-year-old man was taken into custody by Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) agents in the Ipokia Local Government Area on suspicion of stealing three goats.
In a statement released over the weekend in Abeokuta by the Director of Information, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest.
According to Ganzallo, the suspect was initially seen by Ifonyintedo Division agents on February 6, 2026, at around five in the morning, as they were conducting a normal patrol along the Madoga–Ita-Ege road.

According to reports, he was carrying a black suitcase while riding a motorcycle with an accomplice.
The suspects allegedly drove away as soon as they saw the operatives. They left the motorcycle and the bag—which turned out to contain three goats—during the pursuit.
After the event, ACC Aliu Yusuf, the Area Commander of Ipokia Area Command, ordered the formation of a surveillance squad to find the escaping suspects.
According to Ganzallo, Awahnse, also known as Ariwo Oja, was eventually taken into custody on February 19 at approximately 1:30 p.m. He was a native of Odoforo in the Ipokia Local Council.
He went on to say that during the preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly admitted that he and his accomplice, Ketonsu, also known as Ijagun, had stolen the goats at Ifonyintedo.
