According to a statement released on Monday, September 7, Governor Dauda Lawal authorized the nomination following consultation with the Kingmakers of Zurmi.
Atiku succeeds Alhaji Bello Suleiman as the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi on August 31.
The eldest son of the late Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the 19th Emir of Zurmi, Atiku was once known by the traditional title of Dangaladiman Zurmi.
He was once the Zurmi Local Government Council’s administrator.
Congratulating the new Emir, Governor Lawal urged him to continue the tradition of his forebears.
Atiku should lead with an emphasis on peace, justice, unity, and the welfare of his people, according to the governor.
In order to preserve peace and order, he also exhorted the next Emir to unite the Emirate’s communities and collaborate with the government and security services.
An essential part of Zamfara’s history, the Zurmi Emirate was established centuries ago by the Alibawa tribe and is renowned for its legacy of justice, scholarship, and community service.
