A man was arrested in Rivers for allegedly assaulting two minors.
The Rivers State Police Command arrested Godwin, a 50-year-old man, on suspicion of defiling two children in Ogale, in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
In response to accusations involving two young girls in Rivers State, police have detained a suspect.
The defendant was allegedly arrested by Eleme Police Division officers at his residence on Monday after the parents of the children, ages 11 and 13, filed a formal complaint.
The defendant allegedly sent the two kids on an errand and then invited them into his room after they returned with the item he had ordered them to buy, according to the father of the oldest juvenile, who was only known as Cletus.
He claimed that after locking the door and turning up the music, the suspect would sexually assault the kids.
Cletus also said that following the incident, the suspect threatened to punish the young girls brutally if they revealed what had occurred to them.
Blessing Agabe, a spokesman for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the suspect’s arrest when reached on Thursday and stated that investigations were still on.
She stated that a medical form had been granted to allow the girls to be examined and that the police were still awaiting the results, which would assist in determining whether there was penetration, while confirming that the suspect was in police custody.
She stated that investigations, including the medical examination procedure, were still ongoing and that the matter would be submitted to the relevant agency if that was proven.
