The Nigerian House of Representatives has announced a one-day public hearing to review 10 legislative bills aimed at amending the Federal Colleges of Education Act and establishing new federal colleges of education across Nigeria.
The hearing, organized by the Committee on Federal Colleges of Education, will take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Conference Room 231, Second Floor, House of Representatives New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, starting at 10:00 AM.
The proposed bills aim to enhance teacher education and strengthen Nigeria’s educational framework by establishing new colleges and amending existing laws.
According to Rep. Adamu Tanko, Chairman of the Committee, “Education remains the backbone of national development, and the training of qualified teachers is essential for sustainable progress”.

HB.1852: Amendment to establish Federal College of Education (Technical), Uzebba-Iuleha, Edo State
HB.593: Amendment to establish Federal College of Education, Afon, Kwara State
HB.972: Amendment to establish Federal College of Education, Ibidep, Ibiono Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State
HB.438: Establishment of Federal College of Education (Technical), Ile-Ife, Osun State
HB.1412: Amendment to establish Federal College of Education (Technical), Faskari, Katsina State
