The Nigerian Presidency has addressed concerns raised by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), highlighting the government’s achievements in security, economy, and youth empowerment.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, the presidency acknowledged the CBCN’s concerns about youth unemployment, insecurity, poverty, corruption, and electoral fraud.

However, Onanuga emphasized that the government has made significant progress under President Tinubu’s leadership over the past 22 months.

Onanuga claimed that Nigeria is more secure today than it was in 2023, thanks to the military and other security agencies, as well as President Tinubu’s strong leadership.

He noted that over 8,000 criminals, including bandits, armed robbers, Boko Haram terrorists, and kidnappers, have been eliminated.

Additionally, over 10,000 Nigerians, primarily women and children, have been rescued from their abductors.

Improved security in the North-West and North-East has allowed farmers to return to their fields, increasing food production and stabilizing commodity prices.

Onanuga also pointed economic improvements to the bishops, noting that President Tinubu’s administration has stabilized the economy from the precarious situation it inherited. He cited improvements in trade balance, foreign reserves, currency strength, and local refining capacity.

The presidency emphasized its commitment to youth empowerment, highlighting various programs and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund, which aims to create over 10 million jobs.

Onanuga noted that the N54.9 trillion 2025 budget is designed to revitalize the economy, with increased spending on economic and social infrastructure, such as roads, power, healthcare, education, and security.
