Rotimi Amaechi Dumps APC, Accuses Party of Plotting with INEC to Rig 2027 Elections
Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially parted ways with the All Progressives Congress (APC)—and he isn’t leaving quietly.
Amaechi made the announcement on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, during the unveiling of the interim executive team of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja.
He disclosed that he tendered his resignation from the APC just a night earlier and expressed disbelief that the party had not already expelled him, despite repeatedly warning them to stop involving him in party meetings.
In a bold statement, Rotimi Amaechi accused the APC of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the outcome of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

“Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat, can’t buy food, there’s no money. Inflation is at its peak. And the federal government is busy trying to hijack the election with the help of INEC,” Amaechi said.
He went further to emphasize that this new political chapter is not just about switching parties, but about rallying Nigerians around a larger national movement aimed at reclaiming governance and restoring integrity to public leadership.
