Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, calling it one of the most incompetent, disconnected, and anti-people governments in Nigeria’s democratic history.
Atiku made this statement on the two-year anniversary of Tinubu’s administration, expressing disappointment in the government’s policies and actions.
According to Atiku, Tinubu’s administration has deepened poverty across Nigeria and broken records in wasteful public spending.
The government has also been accused of inflicting unprecedented hardship on Nigerians, with policies that target the poor while providing relief and advantages to the rich.
For instance, Nigeria has become the capital of malnourished children in Africa, surpassing even war-torn Sudan, and ranks 18th globally for hunger, according to the 2024 Global Hunger Index.
Atiku also criticized the government’s economic policies, citing Nigeria’s skyrocketing public debt under Tinubu’s administration.
He emphasized that the opposition coalition will not remain silent in the face of what he described as elite-driven governance and increasing hardship for ordinary Nigerians. Atiku pledged to challenge the excesses of this administration, restore accountability, and return government to the people.
