Mrs. Unoma Godswill Akpabio, the wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has filed a lawsuit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, seeking N250 billion in damages over alleged defamation.
The lawsuit comes after Senator Natasha accused Senate President Akpabio of sexual harassment and victimization, claiming he made unwanted advances towards her and retaliated against her when she rejected him.
Mrs. Akpabio has denied these allegations, stating that Senator Natasha is “lying and creating content for her personal gains.” She has filed two lawsuits: a fundamental rights suit and a defamation lawsuit, seeking damages and a retraction of the allegations.
Mrs. Akpabio is seeking a court declaration that Senator Natasha’s allegations violated her fundamental rights, a perpetual injunction preventing Senator Natasha from making further statements, and N250 billion in damages.
She is also demanding a formal written retraction and unconditional apology from Senator Natasha, to be published in The Guardian and This Day newspapers.
