Spain relocates more than 3,000 migrants to another camp after beach chaos.
Spanish police undertook an operation early in the morning, relocating over 3,000 migrants from various beaches in Ceuta. Their destination was a freshly set-up tented facility, which has been erected within Ceuta’s port area.
Things got quite unruly during the move, as throngs of people pushed and shoved for room along the two-kilometer path. This commotion led some individuals to push past the security lines, and officers reportedly discharged warning shots into the air to try and bring things back under control.
More than 170 officers, assisted by drone units, were on hand to oversee these transfers to the facility, which has space for 1,700 people.
The goal for authorities at this location is to process and identify those individuals still present from the large border crossing that happened in July.
The constant unrest in the 18.5 sq km region has truly caused serious national disapproval for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
