The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has emphasized that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, citing equity, fairness, and the party’s constitution.
Wike made the call during a meeting of PDP eminent stakeholders held on Sunday, June 9, 2025, in Abuja. The meeting, attended by former Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Samuel Ortom, and Okezie Ikpeazu, among others, focused on reviewing the party’s internal crisis and setting a direction for its future.
The stakeholders resolved that:
– The party must respect the judgment of the Supreme Court and reaffirm Senator Sam Anyanwu as the duly elected National Secretary.
– The party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections must be zoned to the South, following the unbroken years of Northern presidency under President Muhammadu Buhari.
– Only the National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, can issue notices of meetings, and all notices not issued by him are null and void.
The stakeholders urged all members to uphold the rule of law, respect constitutional mandate, and support the efforts of the National Reconciliation Committee headed by Senator Bukola Saraki.
