President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian diplomats have received an urgent appeal from more than 200 Nigerians trapped in a deportation center in New Delhi, India, pleading for assistance in returning home.
In a deportation camp in India, more than 200 Nigerians are pleading with President Tinubu and Nigerian authorities to assist them in returning home.
The detainees detailed their appalling conditions at the camp, including inadequate food, a lack of medical attention, and extreme emotional strain, in a video shared online.
Individuals trapped, hailing from different states across Nigeria such as Delta and Akwa Ibom, disclosed that their confinement period extended up to 10 months for some, while others endured two to three years.
The men stated their presence in the facility was not voluntary; they just lacked the funds for plane tickets home. They furthermore alleged this prolonged custody drove many to depression, with some experiencing mental collapses and, unfortunately, others losing their lives.
